Direct Download (DDL) sites are my current favorite source for downloading songs, apps, movies, books and games free of charge.

DDL sites provide the easiest and potentially most secure access to paywalled content on the internet. Because corporations frown upon pirated material on the internet many governments have prohibited even legitimate use of torrents and Usenet services. However, all that material and much more may be found on DDL sites and can be safer and easier to use than torrents.

I’ve spent decades on-line, was an early Napster and Usenet addict and ever since have been continuously scouring the web for the best file sharing communities and tools. This guide will help you enjoy the benefits of downloading directly from trusted sites. I have tested hundreds of DDL sites for speed, library size and usability to bring you the ultimate list of the 21 best DDL sites of 2021.

Excellent DDL sites are hard to find although there are literally thousands of horrible ones and it’s common for great websites to disappear virtually overnight. Even worse is that many of these untested sites are actually dangerous to use. That’s why I strongly recommend that you use a secure VPN, I personally like TorGuard or FastVPN and an encrypted cloud drive (I prefer Mega.nz). VPNs mask your IP address and encrypt your traffic to protect your identity online. This is crucial if you want to hide your downloading activity from your ISP. For discussion and feedback, please head to the Reddit thread on r/Piracy. If you come across dead links or have any suggestions please get in touch on twitter!

Now, onto the full list of 20 best DDL sites for 2020!

I) Movies, TV Shows, etc.

1. Snahp.it

Snahp.it is the best file sharing community I have found hands down. There are really two sites/communities in one here. These are the guys that started the community on Reddit at r/MegaLinks and after they got too popular and were banned moved to Snahp.it. The public site is only so-so but the forum is an amazing utopia for data hordes of all stripes.

The snahp.it forum has struck the perfect balance. They are a fun loving group and getting requests fulfilled is lightening fast. Rest assured, if there is a digital version of a file of something out there, these guys can get it. If you are looking for an invitation to snahp.it just message me on Twitter.

2. The Eye

The Eye is a non-profit website dedicated to content archival and long-term preservation. As put by the “Archive Team”, technology is business, and in business, money often takes priority over ethics. With the law perpetually lagging behind technology and business, there is often nothing between you and getting screwed over besides your own volition.

Living without the knowledge of our past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots. Corporations do not contemplate their own inevitable end. At least, they don’t do it in public, unless they are in really bad shape. When times are good, those thoughts are pushed away, and end users are encouraged to do the same. When times are bad, they tend to go very bad, very quickly — if you’re lucky, you’ll have an announcement. Your data is never totally safe. Backing up your data is always necessary, even if it’s stored elsewhere.

The Internet is a worldwide platform for sharing information. It is a community of common interests.

Their mission at The Eye is to preserve pieces of digital history. They are digital librarians.

3. AvaxHome

One of the best DDL sites with eBooks, TV, movies, magazines, software, comics, newspapers, games, graphics and more! For the life of me I can not figure out what in the hell is going in with this site but am am absolutely loving it! They have all the media and more of the other sites here but also have a hilarious news portion. I love the clean design and wide variety of files. All around anther amazing DDL site.

4. MovieFiles.org

Direct download search engine which generates Google Drive links. I absolutely LOVE sites like MovieFiles.org. No B.S. no twitter, no votes or likes or even ads, just a list of files. A perfect site for finding DDL for movies, I just wish more sites were and clean and clear as MovieFiles.org, nuff’ said.

5. SceneSource

Another WordPress site dedicated to bringing you the latest info on “new scene” releases. SceneSource is unlike many other sites, they will not spam you with full screen, uncloseable, or any other annoyance’s that claim to be advertising. They don’t try to install malware, spyware or any other type of malicious programs, they just do what they do best. they are a scene only site, meaning no P2P or other such releases. They don’t ask much in return, other then telling everyone you know about them, and help them become bigger, stronger and better!

6. Movidy

Links for movies and shows in Spanish. Ver series y películas online sin publicidad. Movidy.co tiene uno de los catalogos mas grandes para ver peliculas online y para ver series online, cuenta con un sistema automatizado que previene la caida de.

II) Music and Audiobooks

7. Soulseek

Soulseek is technically not DDL but a P2P ad-free, spyware free, just plain free file sharing network for Windows, Mac and Linux. I include it because you get all the benefits of DDL but is just “directly” from multiple peers. Their rooms, search engine and search correlation system make it easy for you to find people with similar interests, and make new discoveries! There are a good number of reasons why people do not share files. First and foremost being that they do not realize that many people are upset by “non-sharers”. We realize that Soulseek has a reputation for mean, pedantic users that have a great list of “dos and don’ts” in their userinfo.

8. Kingdom Leaks

One of the best music only sites I’ve used. Run by a guy that calls himself Master Leaker Slade welcomes you to Kingdom Leaks. He introduces the site as, “Back in the summer of 2013 I had this crazy vision of creating the one place where people with all kinds of musical tastes and backgrounds could come together and just talk about good tunes. With this vision as our foundation, KL quickly became one of the largest leak sites on the Internet, run by staff who share a deep passion for music and backed by dedicated users. Come in, say hi, download some new music and become a part of the best music community.

9. New Album Releases

Another great site for DDL links and full albums. I am not much into new music these days but I tried these guys out and it seems like everything works and a great resource. Let me know if you run into issues with it :)

10. AudiobookReviews.com

One of the best new DDL audiobooks sites of the last few years, ABR hosts their entire collection on Mega, is completely free and has a dead simple UI. Not the largest selection by far but they have all the top books and the easiest and most direct download interface.

Disclaimer, this site is affiliated with AudioBookReviews.com.

III) Software (mostly)

11. AppNee Freeware Group

Massive DDL site, eBooks, Programs, Games, Operating Systems, etc.

If you also like to try a variety of interesting and useful software — just like me, then you have found the right place. AppNee’s single one mission is to forcibly share all the great software and resources that it has collected.

Their Philosophy

If your life isn’t rich enough, or even a little tough, then AppNee’s significance is to take some of the burden off your shoulders in terms of computer software.

If one day we are rich, I think everyone will be willing to pay the developer some fees, whether it is to buy or donate.

AppNee is a blog-post based small site where they “forcibly share” any form of high quality software & resource.

  • App — short for applications
  • Nee — acronym of no everest exist

AppNee focuses on free, indie (non-mainstream) and portable applications. It is committed to finding, collecting and recommending some very famous, useful and practical (including noteless but useful or even powerful) or fun apps to you. And most of them are absolutely free to download and use!

12. DDLValley

DDL links for Movies, Games, Tv Shows, Apps, Ebooks and Music. A great all around DDL site. Great forums, up-to-date releases, just a great packages. DDL Valley is a group of people that aims to provide quality releases that satisfy your need for the fastest and the latest scene and p2p releases.
They have: Movies, Games, Tv Shows, Apps, Ebooks and Music.
They are currently recruiting Editors! If you would like to apply to be an editor, Click here!

13. DirtyWarez Forum

Popular warez forum with films, TV shows, ebooks, anime, games, and more. In order to see and use all of the AWESOME features DirtyWarez has to offer you must register on the site and they encourage users to remember, SHARING IS CARING!!!

There are quite a few of these “warez” forums out there and this is a pretty good one but in my opinion far from the best community.

14. WarezForums.com

Warez forum with films, TV shows, ebooks, anime, games, and more. Unfortunately Warez Forums is now closed to new users but I am leaving it up just in case they open registration back up anytime soon. It is a forum based on general discussion and sharing of related resources. They encourage creativity, freedom, and above all, individuality. You can also find lots of leaks, tools, software, tutorials, and more. Learn things, meet new friends and have fun with their special features. They promise, “We will not disappoint you!”

15. BlackPearl.biz

A lower quality replacement for snahp.it if their registration is closed. Because this alternative is always getting bad mouthed so much on Snahp.it I honestly have not ever even bothered to make an account. It comes up a lot and have talked to others enough to feel comfortable recommending it as a next best alternative to one of the communities above.

IV) Misc. Tools and Resources

16. Igglybuff’s Awesome Piracy List

Awesome Piracy is Awesome, A curated list of arrrrrrrrr! Over the past couple of years, Igglybuff has accumulated bookmarks, saved Reddit posts, and GitHub stars all related to piracy in some form or another. This list is an attempt to add structure to those resources and share them. Everything you need to get started on your pirate voyage can be found here.

I am aware that a number of websites featured in this list rely on operating under obscurity, and that this list could potentially contribute to their demise through excess exposure. Please ensure you use an adblocker like uBlock Origin to access any of the websites listed here, otherwise, you may have a bad time.

17. Orion

Orion is a service that indexes metadata and links from a variety of public websites and networks, including torrent, Usenet, and hoster indexes.

Orion is an indexer and search engine for torrent, usenet, and hoster links. Orion provides an easy-to-use API which is integrated into a wide range of Kodi addons and mobile apps, allowing you to quickly find links for your favourite movies and TV shows.

Orion is not a debird service, it does not host or distribute any files. Instead, Orion complements debrid services. A streaming addon retrieves links from Orion and then passes it on to a debird service for download. You can also use Orion without a debrid service, by either using a torrent streaming addon like Elementum, using a standalone download manager, or accessing hoster links that can be played directly without a debrid service.

18 . The r/ZippyShare sub-Reddit

A sub-Reddit to share content hosted on ZippyShare. If you are looking to make a quick request and don’t want to bother with torrents or signing up for another site this subReddit is a great option.

In general, I hate both Reddit and ZippyShare but if you are in a bind this is a nice community and zippy share has consistently been generous to the file sharing community.

19. MegaSearch

MegaSearch Search engine for finding content hosted on Mega and other premium hosts like OpenLoad. An amazing idea for a site where anyone can paste links to their hosted contend then be searched by anyone. This is such an amazing service I can’t believe I just recently learned about it.

20. Mega.nz

Mega service is encrypted client-side using the the AES algorithm. Since Mega does not know the encryption keys to uploaded files, they cannot decrypt and view the content. Therefore, they cannot be responsible for the contents of uploaded files. THIS IS INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT. Mega has stated that encrypting files allows them to work with a larger number of data hosting companies around the world, decreasing the likelihood of a Megaupload-style seizure of servers by one government while keeping all of your data 100% private.

Thanks for reading and stay safe out there :)
